Cadbury banned in USA

This is an interesting situation. Hershey appears to have won a lawsuit to prevent British-made Cadbury chocolate products from being sold in the USA, restricting key importers from wholesaling them with all manner of retailers in the states. Apparently, too many products are close to Hershey equivalents???!!

Here’s the story:

It’s an interesting one given that Cadbury is in fact owned by Mondelez International, which is an American company to my understanding. There is some initial talk that Cadbury will be made under licence in the USA going forward, perhaps even by Hershey. Speculation no doubt but it does make you wonder where the beloved British Cadbury brand is actually going.

In the meantime, lack of supply on shelves in the USA will surely open the doors online for a while? Brits across the pond (and Yanks that like British tastes) will look online to find their supplies as I cannot see this aspect being totally restricted. I can see lots of British online sweet shops setting up a new landing page called “British Cadbury Chocolate Brands”!
