Esthechoc, anti-ageing chocolate

At last! Someone has developed a functional chocolate that is proven to be anti-ageing and even low in calories – can this be as good as it sounds?

Launched by a team of Cambridge University academics who are behind the company Cambridge Chocolate Technologies, Esthechoc is described as “Cambridge Beauty Chocolate”. It is claimed that one 7.5g piece a day will help to reverse the natural ageing process with visible results clinically proven after three weeks.

As you might imagine, we’re waiting for samples as the key issue is going to be the taste surely. Does it compare favourably to your regular chocolate tipple? Some might say who cares if it makes you look younger! This could be an interesting development for the chocolate industry.

Esthechoc is a 72.6% cocoa, dark chocolate, claiming to contain only 38 kcal in a bar and be suitable for vegetarians and vegans. The functional claim, which has been tested, is that it enhances skin microcirculation and supports skin nutrition, oxygen saturation and detoxication.

We understand that Esthechoc will be going on sale next month in the UK and one prestigious retailer is already likely to list it. The cost of Esthechoc? That is yet to be disclosed but if it truly does what it says on the wrapper, we cannot imagine it will be particularly low!

We’ll keep you posted on this interesting functional chocolate development and if we receive some samples of Esthechoc (I wonder how you actually pronounce that?), we’ll give you our thoughts on the taste of what really could become the world’s dream chocolate bar.
